How to Enroll Your Child in a Pre-K Dual Language Program?

  • Search for and apply to pre-K dual language programs on MySchools.  The search tool on this website will allow you to filter for pre-K programs that offer dual language.  Make sure to select dual language program as one of your application choices.  Some pre-K providers offer more than one program, so be sure to add the correct dual language program to your application.
  • Pre-K Admissions Guide: view or download the 2020 Guide to learn about the admissions process and which programs offer dual language.  Visit nyc.gov/prek to download the guide in other languages.

If you have questions about a specific dual language program, please contact the program directly.

What is Pre-K Dual Language Program?

Dual language programs provide instruction in two languages: English and a target language.  The goal of pre-K dual language programs is for students to experience high-quality early learning in both English and the target language.

Dual language programs enroll mix of children whose home language is English and children whose home language is the target language.  Students support one another's language development by talking to their fiends and teachers in both languages.

How to Apply

Families with children born in 2016 can apply to pre-K in the following ways:

  • Online using MySchools by 11:59 p.m. on March 29.

School Philosophy

Our school philosophy is that young children learn best when given an opportunity to discover and explore the world around them. Cognitive and language development for young children begins with sparking a curiosity, exploring and interacting with peers as well as the adults. Social interactions and imaginative play provides opportunities for children to discover, communicate ideas and make meaning in order to develop ones thinking skills where teachers can then scaffold. Developing classrooms that motivate children to become active participates in learning, as well as providing opportunities to learn through exploration, inquiry and problem solving. Involving young children to explore and discover will motivate ones desire to learn.
